Brokenness

Life is going well for us in Brazil, though we have had many unexpected things happen thus far...much of which involves a lot of broken appliances. It's amazing the things we take for granted. People live everyday withouth air conditioners, microwaves, curling irons, and refrigerators, yet when you don't have one that works, you really begin to realize the blessing they are! I think through all this "brokenness," God is teaching us just that. He is revealing to us areas in our own lives that need to be broken, as well as revealing to us the brokenness of this country. We are learning to interact with the Brazilians right now, and trying to understand all that their lives entail. We are seeing the brokeness and are learning how to help address it best.



God has been teaching us also about Grace and Peace. His Grace and Peace has been given to us...we should be able to extend that to others. We were listening to Rob Bell online this past week and one of the things he said was that we need to remember this...when we, or others begin to put ourselves down, we need to remember grace and peace. God is gracious and understanding. There are many factors here that sometimes make it hard to be gracious or even to understand, but God has given us grace and peace, so that we can. We praise God for his continous hand on us and His work in our lives. We realize our total dependence on Him.
