Drum Clinic

For four weekends in May, we had the opportunity to teach guitar, keyboard, and drums to the youth of Gloria Wesleyan Church. The youth leaders there have a longing to see the youth participate more, and to be used of God as musicians and worship leaders. So this was their first step! Most of my drum students have never touched the drumset before, but by the end of the month, my seven or so students were learning beats that they can play right now in services. It was fun for me to be near a drumset again, and to not only teach my students drums, but that the gifts God gives each one of us can be used to bring great glory to Him when we have the discipline to ‘train’ to use them with excellence. What surprised me was that the younger girls (age 12) picked it up faster than the guys (one of them in his 20’s)!
“Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.” (Psalm 95:1-2)
