Computer Problems

´Tis the rainy season here (which lasts for a few more months) and along with it comes the occasional mega storm--the floodgates of heaven open up and dump ridiculous amounts of water on all of creation, the winds could uproot trees with weak root systems, lightning lights up the universe, and the thunder rumbles, and rattles, and shakes the foundations of the earth (a little dramatic, I know, but that´s what it FEELS LIKE! --it rivals even the fiercest storms we encountered in Mississippi, minus the tornadoes and hurricane Katrina of course. Psalm 29 comes to mind). On one such occasion last week, we woke up to the rain and quickly battened down the hatches (it´s comical--our windows have screens, but no overhangs to prevent the aforementioned downpour . . . if they´re open, we have to run to all the windows and close & latch them when we hear the rain start). As we were lying in bed, listening to the show outside, we saw, heard, and felt the vibrations of a bolt of lightning strike somewhere close on the seminary grounds. We would find out in the morning that it blew the fuse on the surge protector that our computer´s power cord was plugged into and also fried the power cord. Our battery ceased working weeks ago, too, so we are currently unable to use our computer. We´re having to use a computer here at the seminary to do anything. So, the camp blogs were cut short, as has skyping and emailing desisted. But we´ll keep connected through this computer until we get a new power cord. Our campus router was also fried in the storm. It turns out that the seminary is at the highest elevation in the neighborhood, so this isn´t a terribly uncommon thing!
