Yesterday, on December 5th, 2007, at approximately 5:27 PM (but who's counting?), a round, rosy-cheeked Brazilian travel agent named Jaro handed us a manila envelope which contained (drum roll please . . . . . no really, do it, it's fun) our VISAS!!!!
At long last, we have received the precious and necessary authorization to leave our homeland for a time and serve our Lord in Brazil! To be honest, I was holding out for some other "glitch" before I became too excited about the prospect of our final release. . . but we reviewed the documents and they were good to go! When we got home, Josh's parents and sister did the best congratulations they could muster (they're going to miss our babies a great deal, and vice-versa) and we celebrated by toasting together with some sparkling cider and the simple words "Praise the Lord!"
We will leave mid-week next week (final travel details are still being arranged . . . it's a bit more challenging to find affordable open seats at this time of year). We wish we could have one gigantic celebration comprised of ALL of our Brazil support team, family, friends, churches, & GP staffers. We shall never tire of saying thank you to those gracious people and churches who have partnered with the Lord and we Baker's to send us. So, once again . . . .thank YOU.
